FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing ammonia by catalytic reaction of make-up synthesis gas obtained by reforming hydrocarbon material and to an apparatus for its implementation. Method includes: primary hydrocarbon feedstock reforming with steam, to obtain a first reforming gas, secondary reforming of the first reforming gas with fired air heating, to obtain crude synthesis gas, purification of crude synthesis gas, with production of make-up synthesis gas, conversion of make-up synthesis gas into ammonia in synthesis circuit. Primary reforming is carried out at a temperature of at least 790 °C, and pressure equal to at least 50 bar, and secondary reforming is carried out mainly without excess air, compared to its stoichiometric amount. Make-up synthesis gas has molar ratio H2 to N2, equal to 2.5 or more, but less than 3. Then purging flow is withdrawn from synthesis circuit, separating hydrogen-containing stream from it and adding said hydrogen-containing stream to said make-up gas to adjust ratio H2 to N2.
EFFECT: technical result consists in obtaining higher efficiency without exceeding limit modes of steam turbine.
