FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of internal combustion engines. Essence of invention consists in that compression-ignition internal combustion engine comprises stepped cylinder, in which stepped piston equipped with compression rings is installed with possibility of movement along cylinder axis, and dividing cylinder into upper and lower chambers. Upper and lower chambers are made of cylindrical annular shape. Inside the movable stepped piston there is another fixed piston, which forms with the movable piston additional upper and lower suction chambers. At that, in movable piston position in "top dead point" upper working cylindrical annular chamber through openings in cylinder walls is connected to engine casing, and through openings in movable piston walls with upper suction chamber. Bottom suction chamber at this point is communicated via check valve with atmosphere. In the position of the movable piston at the "bottom dead point", the lower annular working chamber is connected to the engine casing and to the lower suction chamber, and the upper suction chamber is communicated with the atmosphere via a check valve.
EFFECT: increased specific power of engine.
