FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: double-acting internal combustion engine is comprised of a housing with one cylinder (1) or with a block of cylinders. In each of the cylinders (1), pistons (2) and (3), connecting rods (4), (5) and (6) and the engine crankshaft are installed with the possibility of movement along the axis of the cylinder. Each of the cylinders (1) is equipped with two pistons (2) and (3) with the same mass. One of the pistons (3) is located in the centre of the cylinder and is made of two parts. The upper part of the piston (3) transitions into its lower part. The ratio of the diameter of the upper part of the piston (3) to the diameter of the lower part of the piston is equal to the ratio DB:DH=2:1, where DB is the diameter of the upper part of the first piston; DH is the diameter of the bottom part of the first piston. The second piston (2) is made in form of a ring located around the lower part of the first piston (3). The thickness of the ring b of the second piston (2) is equal to 1/4 of the diameter of the upper part of the first piston (3), b=1/4DB. Both pistons (2) and (3) are connected by connecting rods (4), (5) and (6) to the eccentrics (7) of the shaft. The eccentrics (7) of the shaft are rotated relative to each other by 180°. Both pistons (2) and (3) form a circular working cavity with the first combustion chamber (8). The piston (3) located in the centre and the cylinder head (11) form a working cavity with the second combustion chamber (13). Both combustion chambers (8) and (13) are equipped with nozzles (12) and (16) for fuel injection. Each combustion chamber is provided with suction and exhaust valves (9), (14) and (10), (15). The exhaust channel connected to the combustion chambers is provided with a flap check valve (17).
EFFECT: increasing the engine power through the use of two pistons.
