FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to methods of making amorphous wire from high-strength, magnetically soft alloys with high glass-forming capacity of Fe-Co-Ni-Si-B system, with constant or gradient variation of diameter along wire length. Method comprises placing metal rod in chamber of glass, melting metal rod together with part of glass chamber, drawing metal alloy of cylindrical or conic shape in form of wire coated with glass layer, cooling cylindrical or conical wire coated with a layer of glass, and removing the glass shell. Cooling of wire coated with glass shell is performed by liquid cooler flow directed towards wire movement. Counter fluid flow is created by quenching device that can move in vertical plane at specified speed.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an elongated continuous metal wire in an amorphous state with a constant diameter with high strength, elastic, magnetically soft properties, plastic deformation when stretching, twisting and bending.
