FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to continuous metal casting. Proposed method comprises feeding fused metal into swinging crystalliser and fluxing mix onto metal meniscus, drawing billet from crystalliser at varying rate, supporting billet by support rollers and feeding coolant between said rollers. Coolant, for example, aid-water mix is sprayed from nozzles integrated along billet lengthwise axis into manifolds. Coolant is discharged from billet periphery via grooves made on rollers. Said peripheral sections are located between 0.8 of minimum width and 1.2 of maximum width of billet sprinkling zone width. Sprinkling zone width is varied on separate section of secondary cooling by displacing manifolds in casting at angle to continuous casting machine process axis.
EFFECT: uniform heat removal over billet width, ruling out defects on billet.
