FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises feeding metal from ladle pot into crystalliser, maintaining crystalliser metal meniscus on one level, drawing ingot from crystalliser and making it reciprocate. Drawing rate id determined by formula Vp = kv×(A + B)/(A×B)-ΔT×kz, where kv is empirical factor equal to 0.15-0.25 m2/min, A is billet thickness, m, B is billet width, m, ΔT is temperature of steel overheating over liquidus temperature, °C, equal to 15-35°C, kz is empirical factor equal to 0.005-0.015 m/min×° C, swinging angle (Asw) is varied from ±1.5 to ±4 mm. Frequency N, cycle/min, of crystalliser reciprocation is defined by formula N=180/Asw+100×Vc, where Asw in swinging amplitude, mm, Vc is casting rate, m/min, 100 is proportionality factor, cycle/min, 180 is empirical factor, mm.
