FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of a coating source by physical vapor deposition. Coating application source includes at least a target layer consisting of at least two-phase composite, which contains metal phase (M) and at least one additional phase (P), and a layer stabilizing the mechanical properties, which is connected to the target layer on one side of the target layer. To implement the method, the first powder mixture, which corresponds to at least a two-phase composite and the second powder mixture, which corresponds to a layer which stabilizes the mechanical properties, are hot-sealed in the form of superimposed layers by hot pressing, which includes compression of the first powder mixture and the second powder mixture in axial direction in the mould at a temperature providing sintering of powders with formation of a solid body. Target layer and the mechanical property stabilizing layer are connected by means of a connecting zone, which has increasing concentration of particles of the additional phase (P) of at least two-phase composite in direction from the layer stabilizing the mechanical properties of the layer to the target layer, without formation of the interface boundary.
EFFECT: absence of a clearly defined interface between the target layer and the layer stabilizing mechanical properties, which leads to advantages with respect to thermophysical and mechanical properties of the coating application source.
