FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of granules of ceramic powder compositions and can be used in production of ceramics, particularly additive method, in aviation industry and engine building. Disclosed is a method of producing a silicon granulate for the additive production of articles from reaction-bonded nitrides and silicon carbides, involving preparation of a water-based silicone slurry with addition of polyvinyl alcohol, granulation and drying. Granulate is dried till moisture content is 5–15 %, straining through a sieve system with mesh size of 400–800 mcm, drying to a moisture level of not more than 1 %, straining through a sieve with mesh size of 100 mcm, repeatedly dried until mass loss is terminated, mechanically treated and fractionated through sieve system with mesh size of 25–100 mcm at sieve oscillation amplitude of not less than 0.1 mm until pellets are obtained with granules. In addition, mechanical processing and fractionation of granules is carried out with addition of grinding bodies. Implementation of the proposed method enables to obtain silicon granulate for use in additive production methods and, as a result, to manufacture articles of complex shapes based on reaction-bonded nitrides and silicon carbides.
EFFECT: technical result of claimed invention consists in obtaining granules of silicon of near-spherical shape of specified granulometric composition to obtain articles of complex shape from reaction-free nitrides and silicon carbides.
