FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of structural ceramic materials based on silicon carbide for making articles of complex geometric shape, having high resistance to wear and hardness. Method involves mixing silicon carbide-based powder composite materials, cladding high-hard ceramic powder particles with a carbon component, plasticising the composite powder with an organic binder and granulating, moulding the billet at pressure of 100–130 MPa, machining the workpiece to a product of complex geometric shape, sintering the non-shrinking article in a high-temperature vacuum furnace with a chemical reaction of siliconizing. Silicon carbide powders with coarse grain size of 35–45 mcm and fine grain size of about 3–10 mcm in ratio of 3:1 by weight are used in the initial mixture. Formed ceramic articles of complex geometric shape have density of 3.05–3.10 g/cm3, hardness of 25–32 GPa, bending strength of 320–290 MPa, porosity of not more than 0.01 % vol., shrinkage of not more than 1 % vol.
EFFECT: invention can be used in machine building, marine and aircraft engineering.
