FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to laser synthesis of ceramics using selective laser sintering (SLS), and can be used in aircraft engineering and engine building. Method of molding bulky products of complex shape from silicon powder by selective laser sintering involves layer-by-layer deposition of silicon powder, treatment of each layer with laser radiation in air atmosphere. Laser treatment of silicon powder is carried out at laser radiation energy densities of 0.5–33 J/mm2 and continuous sintering area air blowing.
EFFECT: invention ensures molding workpieces without shrinking from silicon powder by selective laser sintering, at that, the obtained workpieces are suitable for further thermal treatment and production of articles based on reaction-bonded nitrides and silicon carbides.
