FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of separating a secondary fluid or particles from a main fluid. Method includes providing current of mixture of main fluid medium and secondary fluid medium or particles through acoustophoretic device. Acoustophoretic device comprises an acoustic chamber, at least one ultrasonic transducer and a reflector. Ultrasonic transducer is placed on the wall of the acoustic chamber and comprises a piezoelectric controlled by the voltage signal to create a multidimensional acoustic standing wave in the acoustic chamber. Reflector is located on the wall at the side of the acoustic chamber opposite to the said at least one ultrasonic transducer. Voltage signal is transmitted to control an ultrasonic transducer in accordance with a bias profile which is a superposition of a combination of different modes of the same order of magnitude to create a multidimensional acoustic standing wave in the acoustic chamber. At that, secondary fluid medium or particles are continuously trapped in standing wave and then agglomerated, aggregated, clumped or combined with each other, after which they are lifted or deposited from the main fluid medium due to buoyancy force or gravity force and the acoustic chamber is left.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of gravity separation and trapping, improved hydro-gas dynamics with possibility of continuous process of acoustophoresis.
