SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a device for applying to an image of sample-adaptive offsets, wherein the apparatus comprises: means for obtaining, from a bit stream, position data relating to a band-type shift adaptive sample; wherein the obtained position data are associated with the largest coding unit and indicate the position of the range of sample values, in which the sample-adaptive offset is to be applied for the associated largest coding unit selected from the full range of sample values, while said range is less than half of the full range, and said range has some predetermined number of consecutive subranges, and each of said predetermined number of subranges includes a plurality of sample values; apparatus for obtaining, from a bit stream, corresponding offset values for said successive subranges; apparatus for obtaining, from a bit stream, sample values from samples of an associated largest coding unit, decoded from the bit stream; and means for applying offset value for each said sub-range to sampling values in corresponding subrange.

EFFECT: application of image adaptive to sample displacement.
