SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of performing a filtering process over decoded samples of at least a portion of an image using a sample adaptive offset, the method comprising: a step of decoding encoded samples of a first chroma component and encoded samples of a second chroma component, a decoding step of parameters associated with the filtering process by the sample adaptive offset, the step of performing, for each largest coding unit of the filtering process over the first chroma component and the second chroma component based on the sampling adaptive parameters, wherein, when the parameters refer to the first type of the bias adaptive offset, the decoded parameters are shared between the first chroma component and the second chroma component, and when parameters refer to a second type of bias adaptive offset different from said first type, parameters are decoded for a first chroma component and a second chroma component, respectively.

EFFECT: enabling execution of a filtering process over decoded samples of at least a portion of an image using a sample adaptive offset.
