FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to intravenous catheters in general, and in particular to intravenous catheters with injection ports configured for aspiration and/or injection, and methods for using them. Portable catheter assembly includes a catheter sleeve having a distal end, an inner cavity and a proximal end; a port extending from the catheter sleeve and communicating with the inner cavity of the catheter sleeve; and a catheter extending from the distal end of the catheter sleeve. Port is radially displaced from the catheter sleeve so that the central axis of the port and the central axis of the inner cavity of the catheter sleeve do not intersect and are shifted relative to each other. Method for using said assembled catheter in an assembly comprises attaching said catheter to a patient; elimination of sealing formed between port and inner cavity of catheter sleeve; administering the solution to a patient through a port; and sealing restoration after the solution has been introduced.
EFFECT: invention enables delivering a drug into a solution stream without interrupting the flow of the solution for intravenous administration or requiring removal or assembly of parts which can cause discomfort in the patient.
