FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention generally relates to needle devices, systems and methods of vascular drug delivery. In particular, the present invention relates to catheter devices or needle assemblies and configurations used in intravenous medical devices, and methods of using and making such devices and systems. Catheter system includes a catheter sleeve, a bushing, a catheter tube, a bandage sleeve and a needle head with a needle projecting from a distal end of the needle head. Catheter sleeve has a sleeve body with an outer surface and an inner surface forming an inner cavity. Bushing has a distal portion and a proximal portion located in the inner cavity. Catheter tube has a first length, a lumen and a distal opening fitted on the bushing. Bandage sleeve is made of non-metallic material and has the second length fitted on the bushing. Bandage sleeve overlaps at least a portion of the catheter tube at the distal end of the catheter sleeve to counteract or prevent kinking of the catheter tube. Needle includes a needle rod having a needle lumen and a needle tip. Needle rod passes through the bushing, the catheter tube and the bandage sleeve in a ready-to-use position. Method of making a catheter system comprises moulding a catheter sleeve with a body having an inner surface defining an inner cavity; placing the catheter tube having a first length on the bushing; fitting a non-metallic shroud sleeve having a second length on the bushing; fixing the bushing in the inner cavity of the catheter sleeve; moulding a needle head with a needle, comprising a needle rod having a needle lumen and a needle tip, and passing the needle rod through the bushing and the catheter tube in a ready-to-use position. According to the second version, the catheter system comprises bushing (50) having an elongated distal seat and a conical seat located in the inner cavity. Catheter tube has a first length fitted on the bushing. Shroud sleeve is non-metallic and has the second length fitted on the bushing, the second length being shorter than the first one. Bandage sleeve is located above the catheter tube or inside the catheter tube. Any movement of the patient, such as, for example, extension or flexion of the muscle near the injection point, can increase the discomfort for the patient and lead to the formation of kinks in the catheter tube.
EFFECT: invention allows avoiding the formation of a sharp bend of the flexible tube, which can affect the comfort of the patient at the point of injection, limit the flow through the catheter tube at the bend or form a bend along the catheter tube.
