FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for encoding and decoding audio signals. Encoding an audio signal segment in form of one decoded set of audio data by at least performing signal analysis on an audio signal segment with a base pitch corresponding to a first number of audio signal samples, wherein the decoded set of audio data corresponds to the first frame frequency and the first number of audio signal samples per frame. Decoded set of audio data is divided into N parts, where N ≥ 2. Generating N frames of bit stream carrying corresponding parts, wherein N frames of the bit stream represent a decoded set of audio data and correspond to the second number of samples of audio signal per frame. First number of readings per frame is equal to the second number of readings per frame, multiplied by N, and wherein N frames of the bit stream have a second frame frequency which is equal to the first frame frequency, multiplied by N.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of encoding audio signals.
