SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to subscriber authentication and device authentication means. To this end, an authentication method between a device (such as a client device or an access terminal) and a network entity is disclosed. Removable storage device can be connected to the device and store a user-specific key which can be used for subscriber authentication. Protected memory can be connected to the device and stores a device-specific key which can be used to authenticate the device. Authentication of a subscriber may be performed between the device and the network entity. Authentication of the device can also be performed between the device and the network object. Then, protective key may be generated, which connects subscriber authentication and device authentication. Security key may be used to secure communication between the device and the service network.
