FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of gels based on L-cysteine, silver nitrate and polyvinyl alcohol. Method involves mixing an aqueous solution of L-cysteine with an aqueous solution of silver nitrate so that the concentration of L-cysteine in the mixture is from 1.5 to 4.5 mM, and the ratio of molar concentrations of silver nitrate to L-cysteine in the mixture is in range of 1.25 to 1.30, where further mixture is left in the dark place at temperature of 18–28 oC for 4–12 hours to form an L-cysteine-silver solution, then successively mixing L-cysteine-silver solution with aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, so that its concentration in the mixture is within 1.0 to 2.0 wt%, and aqueous solution of sulphate with cation from series Na+, K+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+ at concentration of sulphate in mixture within range of 0.075–0.750 mM, after a certain time, depending on concentration of sulphate and type of cation, system changes from liquid state to gel.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain gels based on L-cysteine, silver nitrate and polyvinyl alcohol, suitable for use as a matrix for encapsulating drug preparations.
