FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: centrifugal separator contains a carrying structure, a rotor made with a possibility of rotation in the carrying structure around the axis of rotation, and forming within its limits a separating space, in which multiple separating plates are installed, they pass from a radial external area to a radial internal area of the separating space. The centrifugal separator contains an inlet, made with a possibility of product feed in the form of a fluid to be separated in the separating space. Wherein the separator is configured such that the separating space is connected with the inlet by pressure during the normal operation of the centrifugal separator. The separator includes the first inlet passing from the radial internal area of the separating space to release the first phase of the product, having lower density, the second inlet passing from the radial external area of the separating space, for the periodic release of the second phase of the product, having larger density, and a release control system, made with a possibility to initiate opening of the second release if initiation is provided. The release control system contains a transmitter, made with a possibility of determination of an input pressure and/or input flowrate of the product in the form of a fluid. The initiation condition is linked with the input flow decreasing due to the input pressure, indicating flow resistance increasing downstream the inlet. The method of the periodic release control of the centrifugal separator contains stages of pressure registration at the inlet of the centrifugal separator, flowrate determination of the product in the form of the fluid supplied to the centrifugal separator, initiation of the second release opening to release the second product phase, during the registration of the initiation condition linked with the reduced flowrate of the product in the form of the fluid linked with the input pressure.
EFFECT: improved indication of a sludge level to ensure timely sludge release from the separating space with minimum breaching of the separation process due to the termination of the release process.
