FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to centrifugal separator (1) and a method for separating particles from a gas stream. Separator contains frame (2), gas inlet (3) and (4) gas outlet. Centrifugal rotor (5) is arranged to be rotatable in the frame around rotational axis (x) and contains separating element (6). Central gas chamber (8) in the rotor communicates with the radially inner portion of the separating member and the gas outlet. Space (9) surrounding the rotor communicates with a radially outer portion of the separating member and the gas inlet. Drive means rotates centrifugal rotor (5) to separate the particles from the gas stream passing from the space surrounding the rotor through the separating element and to the central gas chamber. Ring-formed sealing arranged between and in sealingly contact with the first frame portion (15a) and the centrifugal rotor. This improves the separation performance of the centrifugal separator for separating particles from the gas stream by reducing pressure losses and leaks from the central gas chamber.
EFFECT: invention allows to increase the wear resistance of the elements by using an ring-formed sealing between the contacting elements of the centrifugal separator design.
