SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine may include engine unit, cylinder, which sets combustion chamber in engine block, and piston arranged in cylinder. Piston can move in first stroke from one end of cylinder to its opposite end and can be made with such dimensions relative to cylinder to obtain in first stroke expansion stage, on which the piston moves under the action of pressure of the expanding gas, and a step of inertia motion, occupying the remaining part of this stroke after the expansion stage. Rod section can be connected to the piston and can pass from the area inside the combustion chamber into the area outside the cylinder. Cavity created in the section of the rod can set the passage creating the constant connection between the combustion chamber and the area outside the cylinder, providing the gas flow when the piston is in the cycle at the stage of inertial motion.
