FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular, to the production of metal matrix composite materials reinforced with super-elastic super-hard carbon particles. Invention can be used for miniature parts operating in settings of dry friction and high wear. Fullerenes are pre-hydrogenated in the hydrogen concentration range of 0.24 to 1.4 wt.%. A mixture of cobalt powders with hydrogenated fullerenes is pressed and synthesised under a pressure of 8 to 9 GPa at a temperature of 750 to 1,000°C, forming super-hard carbon particles.

EFFECT: reduction in the friction coefficient and increase in the abrasive wear resistance of the composite material.
