FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatus for determining liquid density. Device for measuring density of liquid includes a container with liquid and an open cylindrical thin-walled shell of constant diameter, which acts as a float or plunger, depending on density of liquid, upper edge of float barrel has conical expansion, protruding beyond its diameter, behind which regularly located along circle circumferential centering on conical grips float is freely suspended to cylindrical end washer of linear drive armature with fixed on it cylindrical sensitive element of electronic scales so that between end face of float and cylindrical sensitive element there is gap, plunger body in the form of a constant-diameter cylinder has a shank with an end washer lying on the cylindrical sensitive element of electronic scales, located in the cylindrical box, upper plane of cylindrical box is fixed on armature of linear drive coaxially to it, liquid container is introduced vertically with tube for supply of liquid into it with valve installed on it, vessel has overflow device located along perimeter of capacity and connected to vertical tube for discharge of poured liquid into collecting bowl with a drain tube equipped with a valve. In method with float cylindrical float is immersed into liquid and its coordinate z1 and pushing force F1 are measured, after which float is additionally immersed in liquid and coordinate z2 and pushing force F2 are measured, wherein constant level of liquid is maintained. Liquid density is calculated by formula: ρL=4(F2-F1)/[gπD2(z2-z1)], where g is gravitational acceleration; D is diameter of float. In method with plunger cylindrical plunger is weighed before immersion, then immersed in liquid and its coordinate is measured z1 and force F1, acting on the balance, after which the plunger is additionally immersed into the liquid and the float coordinate z2 and force F2 are measured, wherein constant level of liquid is maintained. Liquid density is calculated by formula: ρL=4[F2-F1+ρgg(z2-z1)]/[gπD2(z2-z1)], where ρg is reference gas density or calculated by formula: ρg=(G0-F0)/g/V0, where G0 is plunger weight in vacuum; F0 is plunger weight in gas medium; V0 plunger volume.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measurements in a wide range of variation of density of liquids, elimination of subjective errors during measurements and automation of the measurement process.
