FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: to determine density of liquid and gas and liquid level in vessel, pressure drops are measured in vertical measuring tube removed from vessel on section of known length. Lower pressure measurement point is located below the liquid level minimum permissible for the reservoir, and the upper pressure measurement point is located above the liquid level maximum allowable for the reservoir. First, the tube is blown with gas from the gas volume of the reservoir, displacing liquid from it into the liquid volume of the reservoir and measuring the pressure drop. Then pressure drop is measured after tube filling with fluid to overflow. Density of gas and liquid is calculated by formulas ρg=(P1-P2)g/g/H0, ρL=(P1-P2)L/g/H0, where (P1-P2)g is pressure drop in gas; (P1-P2)L is pressure drop in liquid; g is acceleration due to gravity; H0 is distance between pressure measurement points. Current level of liquid H in reservoir is calculated by formula H=[(P1-P2)-ρggH0]/[(ρL-ρg)g], where P1 is liquid pressure at lower point; P2 is the gas pressure at the upper point.
EFFECT: possibility of permanent and effective control of densities of liquid and gaseous phases in reservoir and liquid level at high measurement accuracy.
