FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical material science, particularly to a method of recording information on a carrier from quartz glass under laser radiation. Recording is carried out by directing polarization-dependent birefringence by modifying quartz glass with a focused laser beam, wherein laser operates in infrared range, emitting femtosecond pulses. Pulse energy is in range of 20–30 nJ, wherein a lens with a numerical aperture of 0.45–0.9 is used.
EFFECT: invention increases information writing speed in quartz glass.
