FIELD: instrument engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a radiation polarization analyzer, a method of reading information recorded in the form of induced anisotropy of the refraction index in a multilayer optical disc of quartz glass, and a device for reading information from a disc. Device can be used in the field of computer equipment, where it is required to read previously recorded large data sets from compact carriers. Differential polarization analyzer is made based on beam-splitting pentaprism with polarization wedges for angular separation of output radiation with intensities I0, I45, I90 and I135, measured by four photodetectors, which output signals are supplied to information processing unit. Disc information reading method employs a differential polarization analyzer and a method which enables to estimate phase delay and determine phase delay and azimuth of a slow axis of induced birefringence.

EFFECT: disclosed are a method and a device for reading data from a glass carrier.
