FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a cutting tool with a coating. Cutting tool with coating contains carbide body and coating deposited from gas phase (PVD). Housing of hard alloy has the following composition: 5–18 wt. % Co, 0.1–2.5 wt. % Cr, 0–10 wt. % carbides or carbonitrides, except WC, metals 4, 5 and 6 of the periodic table of elements, and the balance is WC. Said PVD coating is a nano-layer PVD-coating (Ti, Al, Cr) N with average composition TiaAlbCrcN, wherein a = 0.25–0.7, b = 0.3–0.7 and c = 0.01–0.2, a + b + c = 1. Said PVD coating is a nano-layer PVD coating A/B/A/B/A…, in which sublayers A and B consist, respectively, of A: TiuAlvCrwN, wherein u = 0.1–0.4, v = 0.5–0.8, w = 0.01–0.3, u + v + w = 1, and B: TixAlyCrzN, wherein x = 0.4–0.7, y = 0.3–0.6, z = 0–0.2, x + y + z = 1, u < x and v > y, wherein thickness PVD coating is equal to 0.5–10 mcm.
EFFECT: ensuring stability of cutting tool to abrasive and chemical wear, and high resistance to delamination.
