FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a cutting tool comprising a hard alloy substrate and a method for production thereof. Substrate from hard alloy contains WC, gamma-phase, containing (W,M)C and/or (W,M)(C,N), where M is one or more elements from Ti, Ta, Nb, Hf, Zr and V, and binder phase. Substrate is equipped with enriched phase of binding substance surface area, which is depleted of gamma-phase, wherein microstructure lacks graphite and eta-phase. Binder phase is highly entropy alloy containing 4 or more elements in amount of 5–35 at % of each. Cutting tool is produced from powders forming solid components containing WC, at least one cubic carbide and at least one nitride or carbonitride Ta, Ti, Nb, Cr, Hf, V and Zr, and powders forming binder phase from highly entropy alloy, by grinding in the presence of liquid, drying, pressing and sintering powders.
EFFECT: obtaining a cutting tool from hard alloy, the surface of which is enriched with a binding phase and depleted of gamma-phase.
