SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of land reclamation. In method of determining minimum moisture capacity (MMC) of chernozem and chestnut soils of steppe and dry steppe types of soil formation, analytical determination of minimum moisture capacity of soil is determined – a complexly determined soil parameter according to experimentally established soil characteristics – values of content in soil of physical clay ((Wc)i, % MSP) and humus ((ghum)i, %), density of soil (γi, t/m3) and thickness of humus horizon (hhum, m) using relationships: for determining soil MMC values (WMMC)i, % MSP:

where i is number of soil layer; – average density of soil composition as per soil profile, t/m3; to determine average profile values of MMC % of MSP: a) when measurements are taken on layers of equal power: , b) when conducting the horizontal measurements (WMMC)i with different thickness of genetic horizons by relationship of the form: , where j is the depth of the profile in question, m; n is the number of soil layers of equal power; hhor A, hhor B1, hhor B2, hhor Bs – thickness of genetic horizons A, B1, B2 and Bs within the considered meter-long soil profile, m; c) at known average or averaged values by: .

EFFECT: method makes it possible to simplify determination of minimum moisture capacity of soil in field conditions due to analytical method of determination.
