FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Decoder for recovering an image from a data stream into which an image is encoded in units of slices to which the image is divided using WPP processing, wherein the decoder is configured to decode the slices from the data stream in accordance with the slices order, wherein each slice has an initial syntax portion indicating the decoding start position of the corresponding slice in the image, and the decoder is configured to: identify WPP sub-stream entry points, wherein slices are grouped, by identification, using initial sections of syntax of slices, slices starting on left side of image, parallel decoding of WPP sub-streams in stepwise manner with successive beginning of decoding.
EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of encoding by reducing consumed coding costs.
