FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: decoder is proposed for restoring an image from data stream, which contains an entropy decoder that entropically decodes a current image slice according to one of at least two modes specified by a section of a syntactic element in the current slice, wherein the entropy decoder is made with the possibility to: in accordance with the first of at least two modes specified by the section of the syntactic element, decode data related to the current slice from data stream, using context-adaptive entropy decoding to obtain a residual signal, and in accordance with the second of at least two modes specified by the section of the syntactic element, decode data related to the current slice from data stream, using context-adaptive entropy decoding to obtain a residual signal; a predictor that generates a prediction signal based on prediction parameters related to the current slice from data stream; and a restoration module that restores an image section based on the residual signal and the prediction signal.
EFFECT: reduced throughput delay.
