FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio encoding and audio decoding. Each row of the upmix matrix has M elements which enable to recover the frequency-time mosaic fragment of the audio object from the downmix signal containing the M channels. For each row in the upmix matrix, a subset of elements of the M line elements in the upmix matrix is selected. Each element in the selected subset of elements is represented by the value and position in the upmix matrix. Value and the position in the upmix matrix of each element are encoded in the selected subset of elements.
EFFECT: high efficiency of encoding audio data.
