SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio encoding and audio decoding. For each row in the upmix matrix, a subset of the elements from the M row elements in the upmix matrix is selected. Each element in the selected subset of elements is represented by the value and position in the upmix matrix. Value and position in the upmix matrix of each element in the selected subset of elements is encoded to form one or more parameter vectors. In addition, each parameter of one or more parameter vectors corresponds to an aperiodic value, each vector of one or more parameter vectors is encoded in accordance with the method containing: representing each parameter in the vector by means of an index value, which can take N values; associating each of the at least one second element with a symbol, the symbol being calculated by calculating the difference between the index value of the second element and the index value of its previous element in the vector.
EFFECT: technical result is to improve the efficiency of audio data encoding.
