FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for separating gadolinium isotopes and can be used to produce pure stable and radioactive isotopes of chemical elements for a nuclear fuel block as burnable additive for heat-generating elements. Device includes a chromatographic column for pouring a solution of gadolinium ions with channels feeding and outputting solutions, ion exchangers arranged in compartments installed with a gap relative to each other along the entire length of the column and formed by walls of the column and screens, and a constant power UV source, mounted outside the column, wherein the wall of the column on the side of the source is transparent to UV radiation. In one version, the chromatographic column is annular, wherein the ion exchangers are arranged in projections made on the inner walls of the peripheral annular space of the string throughout its length at different levels.
EFFECT: invention increases isotope separation factor, simplifies fabrication of the structure and reduces cost of materials while maintaining operational characteristics, as well as shorter time for obtaining desired isotopes.
