FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy. To increase wear resistance and operational characteristics of cutting blades of cultivating tools, a method for hardening a working tool blade from high-strength cast iron includes heating the surface of the back side of the blade with an electric arc of reverse polarity by means of a tungsten electrode connected to a DC source, when it is moved along a curved path formed by linear movement parallel to the sharp edge of the blade and rotating about the vertical axis, wherein linear movement of electrode along blade in one turn about its axis makes 3 mm, and rotation frequency 25 min-1, and the trajectory of rotation around its axis is elliptical, where the larger parameter corresponds to the blade width – L, and the smaller one makes 0.37L.
EFFECT: method is proposed for working tool blade reinforcement from high-strength cast iron.
