FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encapsulation of multimedia data with load-time binding, for example, according to the standard multimedia file format of standardisation body (ISO BMFF), in order to improve transferring upon the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) of regions of interest (ROI) selected by users in compressed video streams. It is suggested that each sample with load-time binding comprises the first layer and at least one second layer, and at least one of the layers comprises a plurality of subsamples represented by one or more encoding units. After receiving at least one subsample from the plurality of subsamples of one of the samples with load-time binding, one track is created containing at least one mentioned obatined subsample. The created track is independently encapsulated in at least one multimedia segment file. The mentioned multimedia segment file contains display metadata to provide information about the mentioned at least one received subsample with respect to the mentioned one of the samples with load-time binding and the level to which it belongs.

EFFECT: providing a data organization and track description scheme suitable for spatial mosaic elements in scalable video streams, which ensures that whichever combination of tracks is selected by the client application, the result of parsing the ISO BMFF format always leads to a real elementary bit video stream for the video decoder.
