SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, concerns application of immunogenic composition containing at least one glycoconjugate of S. pneumoniae serotype 9V, for immunising an individual against infection S. pneumoniae serotype 9N, 9A and/or 9L. Said composition does not contain a capsular saccharide of S. pneumoniae serotypes 9N, 9A and 9L, and said composition is able to cause titre of at least 1:8 against S. pneumoniae serotype of 9N in at least 50 % of subjects when opsonophagocytic destruction is determined by analyzing in vitro (OPA). Also disclosed is a method of preventing, treating or reducing the intensity of an infection, disease or condition associated with S. pneumoniae serotype 9N, 9A and/or 9L in a subject and use of the composition for preparing a medicament for preventing infection with serotypes 9N, 9A and/or 9L S. pneumoniae in a subject.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides preventing, treating or reducing intensity of infection, disease or condition associated with S. pneumoniae serotype 9, in a subject due to effective cross-protection between 9V and 9N.
