FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, traumatology and orthopedics, and can be used for treating periprosthetic infection after replacement arthroplasty. That is ensured by intravenous injection of a chlorine series photosensitizer – chlorin E6 of dimeglumin – in saline solution of sodium chloride 20–40 minutes prior to the surgical intervention. After the surgical sanitation of the suppurative focus with removal of the endoprosthesis, an additional laser photodynamic therapy of the surgical wound is performed by irradiating the wound surface with laser light at wave length 660±0.3 nm, intensity of radiation on wound surface 0.25 W/cm², with energy density per session of 30–40 J/cm². After that, wound is re-washed with physiologic saline of sodium chloride. Antibiotic-impregnated cement spacer is then placed. Surgical wound is drained and closed tightly.

EFFECT: method provides fast relief of a pyoinflammatory process, wound healing, possibility to conduct the next stage of therapy at the shortest possible time due to local stimulation of phagocytic activity of macrophages, local anti-inflammatory, reparative, antibacterial action with no systemic negative effect.
