SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of unpacking an audio signal comprises steps of: receiving an audio signal; and decompressing the audio signal into the extended dynamic range by an unpacking process involving: dividing the received audio signal into a plurality of segments, calculating an amplification factor for each segment using an energy-based presentation of the audio signal in the frequency domain and use of gain for each corresponding segment to obtain an expanded dynamic range of audio signal, wherein application of amplification factor intensifies segments with relatively high intensity and weakens segments with relatively low intensity.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of quantisation noise.
