SUBSTANCE: effect is achieved by generating a plurality of audio signals of high-frequency subbands from a number of audio signals of low-frequency subbands and from a number of spectrum gains associated with a number of audio signals of low-frequency subbands, respectively; adjusting the energy of a number of audio signals in high-frequency subranges using a set of target energies; combining sound signals of low-frequency subranges and energy-adjusted sound signals of high-frequency subranges; and generating a wideband output audio signal from the combined subband audio signals by the QMF synthesis filter block.

EFFECT: enabling a high-band signal to be generated from a low-band signal, wherein the spectral envelope of the high-band signal is effectively adjusted to resemble the original high-band spectral envelope without introducing unwanted artefacts.
