FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: application relates to HFR (high-frequency reconstruction/regeneration) of audio signals. Described is a system configured to generate a plurality of high-frequency sub-band signals covering a high-frequency interval based on a plurality of low-frequency sub-band signals. System includes means for receiving a number of low-frequency sub-band signals; means for receiving a set of target energies, where each target energy covers a different target interval within the high-frequency interval and serves as a feature of the required energy of one or more high-frequency sub-band signals lying within the target interval; means for generating a plurality of high-frequency sub-band signals based on the plurality of low-frequency sub-band signals and from the plurality of spectrum gains, respectively, associated with the plurality of low-frequency sub-band signals; and means for adjusting the energy of a number of high-frequency sub-band signals using a set of target energies.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method and a system for performing HFR of audio signals containing large changes in the energy level within the low-frequency range, which is used to reconstruct high frequencies of the audio signal.
