FIELD: electric power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: use in the field of electric power engineering for damping of mechanical oscillations of wires of overhead power lines. Device includes a damper element, loads, a suspension clamp for a damper on a wire with lugs for attachment of an intelligent unit housing and a detachable current transformer with a latch, accelerator, first and second integrators, comparator with adjustable insensitivity zone, pulse counters, rectifiers, comparison units are arranged in smart unit housing, setter of allowable value of vibration amplitude, setters of minimum and maximum allowable current, voltage limiters, intelligent unit power filter, ionistor, intelligent unit supply stabilizer, OR logic element, a transceiver via a radio channel or a cellular communication channel and a clock pulse generator.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities of the device owing to measurement of mechanical oscillations of wires of overhead power transmission lines and values of allowable changes of flowing currents for monitoring of vibration damping, dancing and breaking of wires and flowing currents.
