FIELD: power engineering; overhead power transmission lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed vibration damper is made in the form of flexible damping member (perforated wire) with weights and clamp, the latter being used to attach it to line conductor. Weights are made in the form of bodies of revolution formed by three parts: circular barrel, ball, and link in the form of single-cavity hyperboloid. Geometry and weight characteristics of these parts of weights are chosen to ensure high effectiveness of damping vibrations of line conductors. So, diameter of main barrel should be greater than that of ball and link. In addition ratio of weight masses is found as m1 : m2 = 0.65 - 0.8 and ratio of distances of weights from their attachment points on wires to vertical axis of clamp is found as L1 : L2 = 0.75 - 0.85. Proposed vibration damper is capable of operation in rather wide range of resonant frequencies and is designed so that number of type varieties of such devices used on line can be reduced.
EFFECT: enhanced operating effectiveness and high degree of unification.
