FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Method of producing polymer sulfur involves melting crystalline sulfur in the presence of a stabilizer, followed by crystallisation of the melt, milling and extraction in an organic solvent and drying. Stabilizer used is a mixture of hexol CHPI and resorcinol in the following ratio, wt%: crystalline sulfur 93–95, hexol CHPI 2.5–3.5, resorcin 2.5–3.5. Melting is carried out at temperature 290–330 °C, then held for 2–4 hours. Melt is crystallized on steel conveyor belt, which is cooled in water 30 % solution of glycerine, at temperature from -15 °C to 2 °C. Organic solvent is selected from carbon disulphide or toluene.
EFFECT: invention increases thermal stability and output of the end product with content of polymer sulfur of 90–97 %.
