FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of oil fuel cleaning, such as oil fuel purification onboard the vessel. According to the method, said fuel oil to be purified is fed into centrifugal separator (2). Said oil fuel is cleaned in centrifugal separator (2) to produce clean oil phase. Viscosity of petroleum fuel to be cleaned is measured before cleaning in said centrifugal separator (2) or viscosity of clean oil phase. Temperature of petroleum fuel to be cleaned is controlled based on measured viscosity. Temperature control includes temperature change so that viscosity of oil fuel to be cleaned is maintained equal to preset value of viscosity vset, which is less than specified maximum viscosity of vmax, or lying in some interval of viscosity, less, than specified certain maximum viscosity vmax. Stage of oil fuel temperature control includes comparison of measured value of viscosity with specified value of viscosity vset and reduction of temperature if measured viscosity is less than vset, and temperature increase if measured viscosity is more than vset.
EFFECT: high efficiency of cleaning, which enables separation at high temperature, with reduced wear and damage of parts of the centrifugal separator.
