FIELD: electrical communication engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used in wireless communication systems. Method comprises: transmitting quadrature amplitude modulation of a signal consisting of a set of subcarriers, with a data set to generate an OFDM modulated symbol vector; limiting magnitude of modulated symbol vector to generate first limited OFDM modulated symbol; demodulating a first limited OFDM modulated symbol to recover distorted QAM constellations; limiting points in distorted QAM constellations reconstructed from a first limited OFDM modulated symbol to form constrained QAM constellations; modulation of the OFDM symbol vector with limited QAM constellations to generate a modified OFDM modulated symbol; and output of modified modulated OFDM symbol.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of ratio of peak power to average power.
