FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: use: to determine relative humidity. Summary of invention consists in the fact that determining relative humidity by differences between pairs of reflected signals of one ultrasonic sensor connected to vehicle, wherein each of the reflected signals has substantially equivalent passage time from the object back to said one ultrasonic sensor; composition of exhaust gases is determined by means of a gas sensor connected to an exhaust system of an engine which drives the vehicle; during engine operation without fuel supply, determining relative humidity by means of said gas sensor; and based on environmental parameters or vehicle operation, selecting which method of determining relative humidity is to be applied.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of obtaining reliable results of measurements of relative humidity with required accuracy, allowing to adjust parameters of vehicle operation, thereby improving its operation.
