FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of predicting residual life of a vehicle filter. Method of predicting residual life of a filter of a vehicle, in which, in a vehicle controller, a signal is received from one sensor present in a vehicle and with the help of said controller generating an indication on the presence of deterioration condition of the filter of intake air of the engine of the vehicle based on the fact that the spread of air flow readings relative to said signal is less than expected, when opening angle of throttle of vehicle exceeds upper threshold value. Method for prediction of residual life of filter of vehicle, in which airflow sensor is controlled to measure readings of air flow in collector. Using the controller, the measured air flow in the collector is compared, the degree of deterioration of the characteristics of the intake air filter of the engine is predicted based on the result of comparing the measured air flow readings in the header relative to preset throttle opening command during operation of the vehicle after the threshold amount of air flow readings at the throttle opening angle is greater than the threshold value.

EFFECT: timely determination of deterioration of air filter characteristics.
