FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of keyed connection on shafts. Key is installed in key slot with clearance. An isolator is installed on the key, which adjusts the gaps between the key and the side surfaces of the key slot. Heating and plastic deformation of the shaft key slot is performed by electrodes-tools for electromechanical processing. Electrodes-tools are installed vertically and move along the key slot along its surface at distance of 0.2…1 mm from slot edge, causing upsetting and distribution of shaft metal towards slot. Metal shaft distribution is restricted with a key.

EFFECT: method provides simultaneous production of tight connection and strengthening of key slot side surfaces.
