FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to heat treatment of railroad rolling stock parts. To increase hardness of the working surface of the heel and to simplify the processing process, the method of hardening the railway rolling stock hub involves quenching of the heel by continuous-series heating by high-frequency currents with simultaneous cooling of the liquid, by turning the device for hardening of the girder around the central axis of casing for 360°, in which treated surface of heel is heated to temperature of 830–1150 °C and immediately after heating is spray-cooled with flow rate of cooling liquid from 15 to 45 l/min, followed by volumetric low tempering at temperature of 180–250 °C with curing for 1–5 hours.
EFFECT: increased hardness of working surface of heel and simplified process of treatment.
